ART 1st Year 2 MSP Centralised Art Training
Art nurtures creativity, critical thinking, and emotional expression, making it especially vital in middle school as students explore their identities and connect with the world around them. With this vision, the second-year centralized training of the Art1st Middle School Program was conducted over six days at Delhi Public School from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., bringing together art educators from all four locations. Facilitated by Mr. Biswajit Das and Mr. Achal Dodiya, the workshop focused on pedagogy, creativity, and student engagement, equipping teachers with innovative strategies to make art lessons more meaningful and impactful.

The training began with reflective activities like Haal-Chaal and poem-writing based on the five senses, encouraging teachers to connect observation with artistic expression. In the following days, teachers explored Gestalt principles, designed lesson plans, and discussed the book Rukhi Sukhi by Nargis Sheikh, which highlighted the intersection of art, survey, and social challenges. A visit to Sunet village offered a hands-on experience of documenting artisans’ embroidery practices, followed by planning and creating podcasts that translated field surveys into compelling narratives. Teachers not only learnt about audio documentation and editing but also collaborated in peer feedback sessions, enhancing both creativity and technical skills.

The workshop culminated in large-scale collaborative artworks that visually represented survey findings, blending data with symbolic and figurative imagery. On the final day, these works, along with podcasts and photographs, were displayed in the Multi-Purpose Hall, offering an immersive experience to viewers and sparking meaningful discussions about culture, identity, and artistic pedagogy. The training concluded with reflective feedback and the preparation of integrated lesson plans, reinforcing the importance of professional growth, collaboration, and art as a medium to foster empathy, cultural appreciation, and confidence in students. This six-day journey left every participant inspired to carry forward creativity and holistic learning into their classrooms.
