In today’s fast-paced world, emotional intelligence is as essential as academic success, especially in early childhood. Recognizing this, Delhi Public School organized a parental workshop on Raising Emotionally Intelligent Children on July 19, 2025, for parents of Pre-Nursery to Class III students. Held in the Multi-Purpose Hall, the session focused on nurturing emotional development from a young age. Principal Mr. Jaya Prakash opened the session, emphasizing that emotional well-being at home and school forms the foundation for confident, compassionate individuals. Quoting, “While making a living, we forget making a life,” he urged parents to prioritize emotional presence over material provisions. The workshop was led by Ms. Anjali Chaudhry, Junior Wing Coordinator, who outlined key elements of emotional intelligence—recognizing, managing, and empathizing with emotions. Parents participated in an introspective sticky-note activity and shared personal insights, highlighting the often-overlooked importance of emotional awareness. Through real-life examples, Ms. Anjali shared practical strategies like modelling calm behaviour, validating children’s feelings, and creating emotionally safe spaces. She stressed that the goal is not to fix every emotional issue, but to support children as they learn self-regulation. The session underscored that emotional intelligence is developed through consistent, compassionate parenting. Parents were also given a self-reflection tool to continue their journey beyond the workshop. The session closed with the message, “Children learn what they live,” leaving parents inspired and equipped to raise emotionally resilient children.
